Government of Andhra Pradesh – LEAP Smart Attendance System
The Andhra Pradesh Government's LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) platform was already being used by government schools to manage student attendance. However, the attendance process remained largely manual, requiring teachers to mark each student's presence individually every day.
Our team was tasked with reimagining this workflow and introducing an AI-powered attendance system that could automate attendance marking through classroom image recognition while integrating seamlessly into the existing LEAP ecosystem.
Problem
How might we reduce the time teachers spend on attendance management while maintaining accuracy and ensuring the solution can scale across thousands of government schools?
Solution
We designed an AI-powered Smart Attendance System within the LEAP mobile application.
Instead of manually marking attendance, teachers capture classroom photographs and the system automatically identifies registered students using facial recognition technology.
Attendance is generated automatically and presented to the teacher for verification before submission.
